    Using a Nebulizer With a Mouthpiece

    Step-by-Step

    1. Hands scrubbing with soap under faucet with running water.

      Wash your hands.

    2. Hand twisting top of medicine cup to open it, with other hand holding bottom of cup.

      Twist the top of the medicine cup.

    3. Hand pulling top off medicine cup, with other hand holding bottom of cup.

      Remove the top.

    4. Hand holding cup, with other hand pouring medicine from vial into cup and top of cup lying to the side.

      Pour in the prescribed amount of medicine.

    5. Hand twisting top of medicine cup to close it, with other hand holding bottom of cup.

      Twist the top back on.

    6. Hand pushing mouthpiece onto spout on top of medicine cup, with other hand holding bottom of cup.

      Attach the mouthpiece to the medicine cup.

    7. Hand pushing tubing onto port on top of nebulizer machine.

      Attach one end of the tubing to the nebulizer.

    8. One hand pushing tubing onto port on bottom of medicine cup, with other hand holding cup.

      Attach the other end to the medicine cup.

    9. Finger pushing power switch on side of nebulizer machine.

      Turn the nebulizer on.

    10. Person holding medicine cup, with lips closed on mouthpiece.

      Put the mouthpiece between your lips.

    11. Person holding medicine cup, with lips closed on mouthpiece, inhaling medicine through mouthpiece.

      Begin breathing in and out, slowly and deeply.

    12. Person holding empty medicine cup away from mouth.

      When the cup is empty, remove it from your lips.

    13. Person swishing water around in mouth.

      Rinse your mouth out.

    14. Person spitting water into sink.

      Spit.

    15. An open instruction manual with printed text and pictures.

      Follow the instructions for cleaning your device.
